Is your natural bias towards being positive or being negative? Most people generally answer positive.
And what about your relationship with reality; what is going on in the world around you?
If your version of reality is negative, you are conditioned to believe that whatever can go wrong, will go wrong and whatever can go right, will probably go wrong too. Your unconsciously held beliefs make you into a negative person without your being aware of it. According to social-science.com, this is because negativity often disguises itself as reality.
Being realistic does not mean things will go wrong. Being realistic is merely accepting ‘what is’. It is your relationship with something that determines your reality (not the something). Your perspective or context determines your relationship with reality. A positive context affords the belief in the possibility of a positive outcome.
Here is the caveat though: you are still negative by exclusively celebrating positive outcomes. Gratitude for ‘what is’ creates the possibility of more positive outcomes, rather than the inertia created by negativity. Lessons learnt from the school of hard knocks create perspective and the foundation for more growth, although it may not seem so at the time.
Also, the belief that things happen to you, rather than though you, is negative. Not taking responsibility for outcomes irrespective of whether they are positive or negative makes you the victim and robs you of your power. This level of acceptance and determination requires an acute awareness or consciousness.
The way reality behaves for us is determined by the content of our consciousness. As mentioned, what you encounter on a daily basis is determined by the way you perceive reality. The agency in us that determines what we perceive as real is our consciousness and the sum total of the content of our consciousness creates our reality. Only that which one believes to be real, possible, or true becomes part of your consciousness, and only to that extent is you able to determine the content and behavior of your reality. Consciousness is the context in which thinking and feeling occur. Consciousness is then potentially the context in which the creation of a new, desired reality occurs. This is implies that a positive context yields positive energy and hence positive outcomes.
Positivity requires a changed consciousness. The bottom line is that we are the creators of our own reality and are responsibility for the potential and positive energy by our chosen context.
