When it comes to the question of trust, almost always this has more to do with the leader’s own perceptions of what’s going on than with a team’s actual behavior.

The most common triggers of distrust, according a recent HBR article, is with mismatches between the authenticity in communication and interpretation of intent, mismatches in working and management style, and around commitment to critical tasks.
